DJI MINI 3 _ THE TINY $469 DRONE - Filmmaker Review part 1
it's not the size that matters it's what you do with it these days you cannot only shoot with a tiny film very cinematic things but also with a new tiny drone this is the DJI Mini 3 just announced it's the successor of the Mini 2 entry-level drone from DJI smaller brother of the Mini 3 Pro and it's a perfect drone to go and take on a hike with you or if you're new to this drone game and want to just get some really sick aerial shots and we're gonna try it out see if it's any good it has actually some features that my mavic 3 doesn't have so let's jump into this we're here in Coachella Valley so let's go on a hike and talk about this little drone foreign all right so before we talk about the image quality which is usually what I talk about on my channel let's cover a couple of the specs and let you know what makes this drone different from the mini 2 and the Mini 3 Pro and first and foremost it's its size and its weight now this one is 249 grams and why is this important well first of all it's light you can just throw it in your pocket and don't really bother you don't barely feel it if you if you're used to other big drones
but it's also under the weight where you need to register the Drone now you obviously still have to follow all the same rules but at least you don't need to register for example with the FAA or in other countries with the respected authorities and it's size it's like basically the size of an iPhone 14 pro Max F which as we've just seen and you can just put it here in the pocket and carry it around right like it comes here with this little back if you get it and it's it's very easy to carry about if it doesn't hook up in your pocket like this oh a natural bench right there very beautiful they sometimes occur in nature like that now if you've been following my channel you know that usually I shoot on Big Cinema cameras but recently I tried to challenge myself and shoot more on the iPhone 14 pro so this fits the bill because it's small it's affordable and you can still get really good image quality out of it this is why we actually hit wow doing like like a swamp kind of scenario but this is why we're actually here we're scouting the location because we're shooting a short film on an iPhone and this drone with well you will see it later this month on my channel I won't spoil too much we were just in the desert and now we're in this like weird jungle kind of Swampy Oasis I guess now when it comes to flight time this drone can stay up to 38 minutes with a normal battery that comes with it and it also has a Plus Battery which cannot stay up in the air then for 51 minutes though it's heavier so it doesn't fit that regulation
so you need to register in that case but this is the step up because the midi 2 had 31 minutes of flight time and the Mini 3 pro has 34 minutes so get an extra four minutes you know where you can shoot you can unlock can be captured in four minutes oh there's even a tour so that says foreign 's there I'm looking for Logan have you seen Logan um but the biggest difference between the many three and the Mini 3 Pro is at the Mini 3 pro has actually front sensors and I think also back sensors this one only has the downward sensor so if you are very new and you want to have that extra layer of safety by avoiding to hit anything in front of it through the obstacle avoidance you may want to get the pro but honestly I grew up in the age where drones didn't have all these sensors and I've never really questioned everyone unless you count the one in the volcano YouTuber and drone operator Joey Helms lost his brand new something right out of National Geographic you can certainly safely fly these things also without the sensors and then also the other difference between the pro and the non-pro the three here is that the pro has the O3 image transmission and this one has the O2 image transmission which allows you still to go up to 10 kilometers far in a non-obstructive way so generally speaking it's it's it's really really good still
but there's certainly like a little bit of a difference because the three Pro can go up to 12 kilometers so not a big oh no X's at any time so quite a good win there's also loads of cables around here so it will be a true test of my flight skills yeah whoa one of the new improvements that what I was referring to when I said like my mavic doesn't have that is that the angle of the Gimbaland look at this the angle of the gimbal can actually go all the way up so I'm tilting it up now and what it allows it to do is to you can actually go into stronger winds and you still have your camera front facing rather than tilting down which happens sometimes
